A Letter to our Customers

January 29, 2014

Dear Customers and Friends,

Due to the unusual weather and gas shortage most of the country is experiencing, we wanted to update you on what we are doing to ensure your propane needs are being met. As many of you may have seen or read, the wide spreading price spike is due to a combination of events, involving high demand needed to dry last fall’s wet grain crop for storage, pipeline repairs, and the exporting of 20 percent of U.S. propane — up from 5 percent in 2008 — according to a statement from the National Propane Gas Association. In fact, many propane marketers are now searching for product as far away as Washington State. The limited supply and large demand have caused propane prices to increase significantly in the past six months, and experts are unsure of where prices may head from here.

According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), the demand for propane was at the highest recorded level during this past November and December. This was followed by extreme cold in late December and early January, impacting the majority of the nation. Across the country, emergency exemptions have been issued in response to the severe weather conditions. On January 19, 2014 United States, the Department of Transportation has issued emergency declarations to allow drivers additional hours on the road to make propane deliveries.

Wintry weather is nothing new to us – we have been safely and reliably delivering to our community for over 30 years through the worst of storms. Precautions have been put in place to ensure that we have sufficient storage and supply to service you during these unprecedented times–your deliveries will be upheld to the schedule you have become accustomed. We take our commitment to service our community’s needs very seriously, and we thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging circumstances.
